“Izgubila sam se” (I am lost) is a phrase we might have to learn to say in many languages. People who travel with me know that I hate looking at maps in public. When I travel, I look at a map once in the morning before I head out and that’s about it. I don’t mind circling a block a couple times because “I know it’s around here somewhere.” If I do need to look at a map, I usually get a coffee and sit in a cafe for a bit. This drives everyone I’ve ever travelled with pretty crazy. But if I’m really lost, I head for the nearest grandmotherly-looking woman, especially when I’m travelling on my own, and look pathetic. It usually works out pretty well. Izgubila is the feminine. If you’re a guy, you say “izgubio,” but we all know guys are never lost.
